One Day Story

My one day story was shot at the Battle of the Bands held at The Blue Note in Columbia, Missouri on February 10, 2009. I focused on one of the bands entered called Way Point Home. The band is attempting to get out Columbia and start touring nationally, they hoped that the battle of the bands would win them some start up money for a tour. However, they ended up placing fourth.

Fans cheer loudly for the band Way Point home at the Battle of the Bands held at The Blue Note in Columbia, Missouri. Though the crowd was small, the band's few loyal fans could be heard loud and clear.

I want to do my 5 points of view assignment on the battle of the bands which is coming up this Tuesday! I want to get their early and try to get access to back stage. I hoping to get pictures of people setting up the stage, of the crowd and the winners. I think that this will be a good one day assignment because their will be a lot going on and a lot of different perspectives to choose from.

If this does not work out, I am trying to get into contact with some girls from Stephens College in order to start developing a solid idea for my final photo story.

Picture Story- Sequence

These two sequences were the first assignment for my picture story class. They are meant to represent all that goes into what females are expected to look like. The sequence runs from top to bottom. Essentially they represent the same message, though the second sequence only depicts one eye. In the first frame the woman is shown with a clean face, followed by a second picture with a full of makeup and curled hair. The final shot shows what a woman looks like when the makeup runs and the curls fall out. It a way this photo sequence is meant t be humorous, considering all of the time that goes into applying makeup and styling hair. The final photo is meant to show that all that work ends up only lasting for a few hours.

This photograph is representative of the power that mankind tries to enforce over nature. The shears represent the power of man-made objects while the flower portrays nature and how it is constantly being manipulated and controlled. Flowers, one of the Earth's most beautiful gifts, can be shaped and formed to fit vases and pots. Sometimes the beauty is lost.

After many failed attempts with shooting on a table, we moved the objects to the floor. I did the flashlight test, moved the camera down about a foot from the ground and moved the lights. Both lights were set to 150 watts.
